Tracking match groups
Previous  Top  Next

If the match you are creating is part of a group, select the group from the Match Group listbox.

Only matches can be assigned to match groups, not teams. Assigning matches (instead of teams) to match groups allows to track competitions where teams of different groups may still play against each other at a later stage in the same competition (for example during play-offs), or competitions like the Champions League or the World Cup finals. In such competitions, teams are first separated into groups and can then advance to the quarter finals or semi-finals where they can play against teams that belonged to a different group.

To track such competitions, simply assign the match to the group it belongs. If the match is a semi-final, just assign the match to the Semi-Finals group. The team itself will not be assigned to any match group.

Having matches assigned to groups allows to view the league table at the group level and at the competition level. For example, the league table of Group A will only take into account those matches in the league that have been assigned to Group A, and the main league table will take into account all matches, no matter the groups they are assigned to.

The same applies to match lists: LeaguePad allows to view the matches of a specific group only. By using the match group feature, assigning matches to groups and customizing the names of match groups, you can manage a wide range of competitions.

To specify the match groups of your league:

1.From the main toolbar, select Tools > League configuration.
2.From the Configure league screen, select the match group to rename from the list.
3.Click Rename group.
4.Enter the new name of the group and click OK.
