Result predictions are calculated based on match results in the current league and are only calculated for matches belonging to round 5 or later.
The result predictions calculated by the program are displayed in percentages.
The first percentage corresponds to the calculated probability of a home win, the second percentage indicates the probability of a draw and the third percentage indicates the probability of an away win. A possible score is also displayed.
Predictions are calculated based on analysis of the recorded results in the league file.
The result predictions can be displayed in three ways.
Match by match
To display a result prediction about a specific match, select a match that has not been played yet. The prediction appears on the bottom list.
You can also display predictions on played matches, by selecting the match and clicking Predictions from the bottom list toolbar.
The program displays Face-to-face statistics for each team, in addition to the prediction percentage and possible score.
On a match list
When viewing a match list, like those accessible from the Matches by round or Matches by date folders, click the Predictions button and the predictions percentages and possible score are displayed for each match.
For each match, the highest of the three percentages appears in bold.
If the match has already been played, the program looks up the score of the match and indicates with a background color whether or not the percentage in bold corresponds to the recorded result.
Correctly predicted results appear on a green background. Wrongly predicted results appear on a red background.
For matches that have not yet been played, the predicted result is simply displayed in bold, with no specific background colour.
To disable the Prediction view and display the original match columns, click the Normal button on the toolbar.
From the Predictions settings
Click Options on the main screen and select the Predictions tab. You can choose the prediction method you want to activate, and test the method on a number of past matches.
When you click Test predictions, the program calculates and displays predictions for the selected number of past matches and analyses the efficiency of the prediction method. The efficiency is displayed for a number of benchmarks, both by calculating the number of correct predictions and by percentage.
From one league to another, a given prediction method may appear to be more efficient than another. This feature allows you to set and evaluate the "effectiveness" of each method for a given league.
Important: The prediction calculations do not take into account the predictions of matches belonging to the first four rounds. In addition, such predictions are very basic in the sense that they only look at past results in the current season. A number of important factors that can affect the outcome of a match are not taken into account, for example when key players are missing, or when the supposedly strongest team only needs a draw, or if the match is less important than a decisive game to be played a few days later, etc.
