How do I track penalties?
Previous  Top  Next

LeaguePad provides extensive statistics to track different types of events that may occur during a match. When it comes to penalties, a number of statistics can be viewed, including the following:

·Number of penalties scored, missed and saved by any given team
·Number of penalties scored, missed and saved against any given team
·Number of penalties scored by each scorer in the scorer table
·Number of penalties scored by each player individually
·Number of penalties scored by each team

To ensure that the tracked penalty statistics are accurate, it is important to understand the terminology used in LeaguePad when saving match events related to penalties. The following scenarios correspond to typical penalty situations that may arise in a football match, and the way each of them should be saved in LeaguePad.

Penalty scored
To enter such an event, select the player and the GOAL - Penalty event.

Missed penalty (off-target)
When the player who takes the penalty shoots wide (or on the post), the penalty is considered as being missed. However, this is not a penalty saved by the goalkeeper, as it is assumed that there has not been any deflection from the goalkeeper.
To enter such an event, select the player and the PENALTY - Missed event.

Missed penalty (goalkeeper saves)
If the penalty does not result in a goal and the goalkeeper has touched the ball, the event is not to be stricly considered as a "missed penalty" only. This is also a saved penalty.
To enter such an event, you use the following procedure:
1.Select the goalkeeper and the PENALTY - Saved event.
2.   Select the player and the PENALTY - Missed event.
